Who doesn’t love this new Karl Stefa-no-sh*t?

HE’S had enough and is calling the shots as he sees fit — even at the expense of his own network. It’s hard not to enjoy our new Karl Stefa-no-sh*t, writes Soraiya Fuda.

Karl Stefanovic hits back at Daily Mail for attacking women

FIRST he mocked the circus surrounding the media’s intense love affair with Schapelle Corby, then he laughed-off Sylvia Jeffreys “scoop” on Pippa Middleton, now Karl Stefanovic has slammed a “sleazy” tabloid that left his female colleague “in tears.”

Welcome to our new Today host. I will affectionately refer to him as Karl Stefa-no-sh*t from now on.

Stefanovic has had his fair share of gut-punches following his divorce from ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn.

And for the most part he has rolled with the hard hits, even when high-profile celebrities including KIIS FM host Jackie O weighed in on the debate to tell us why women were angry with him. (I wasn’t angry, for the record.)

“They see a mother who stood by him for all those years... This is what a lot of women would think: this is a lovely lady that stood by him for years, they have a family and they see him leave her,” she said on the hit radio station at the time.

Stefanovic, 42, showed off his much-younger girlfriend Jasmine Yarbrough, 33, months after their split. And some fans, many women, couldn’t forgive him.

But today, women’s opinion on the Nine host may have changed.

In a three-minute impassioned speech, Stefanovic defended every woman in this country against the brazen sexism and dehumanising treatment that is splashed all over the Daily Mail.

He should be applauded.

Stefanovic’s commentary came after an article which pictured him checking into a caravan park with an attractive blonde female colleague.

The yarn pointed out that his girlfriend, Yarbrough, was “nowhere to be seen” (a line since deleted).

He slammed the website saying it had “a despicable track record of denigrating women for who they are, what they are, the choices they make.

“The Inference: I’m a drunk. The real hurt here though is for my colleague, a young female colleague. The sleazy suggestion we are checking in somewhere and that I’m ‘settling in for a long night.’

“Fact: this was work. We were filming a story about our struggling prawn farmers; they deserve a rum or two. The producer pictured on the website is a committed, talented, hardworking and totally professional young woman and not deserving of this cheap, lazy, sexist online slur.

“The idea that colleagues of the opposite sex cannot work together without something going on surely belongs to the 1950s. The Daily Mail has a long, despicable track record of denigrating women, of ridiculing women and objectifying women.

“I am over it. I don’t know what you think, but I hope Australia is over it as well.”

Mic drop.

It’s not the first time, Stefanovic has hit us with a much-needed dose of reality either.

Just yesterday, he mocked his own network’s underwhelming “royal scoop.”

TODAY makes fun of coverage of Pippa Middleton's honeymoon

Jeffreys reported on the couple honeymooning in Sydney with blurry, shaky footage of Middleton’s new hubby James Matthews, facing away from the camera, on the balcony of their Park Hyatt hotel room.

“That’s an amazing bit of news there, Sylvia,” Stefanovic teased.

Days ago, Stefanovic also lamented that Corby had made the media look like “idiots”.

“I realise there’s interest but why oh why oh why?” he ranted at the time. “Schapelle Corby — rightly or wrongly — has been convicted of drug smuggling.

“She’s done her time and has the right to live her life in relative peace — if that’s what she wants. Maybe she wants mayhem. Whatever. I don’t care.”

Karl Stefanovic says Schapelle Corby 'ain't that interesting'

Stefanovic’s relationship breakdown shouldn’t concern us but the fact that he’s using his profile to call out underlining misogyny, should.

He has been calling the shots as he sees fit even at the expense of his own network and I for one am enjoying our new Karl Stefa-no-sh*t.
