In 1859, the land was purchased by Australian pastoralist Thomas Chirnside and his brother Andrew Chirnside, who was the was founder and president of the Wyndham Racing Club, and steward of the Geelong Racing Club.
Among the many buildings are the heritage-listed bluestone stables and a bluestone woolshed which was built in 1865.
The woolshed is one of only a few surviving bluestone woolsheds in the western district.
