The buyer of a multimillion-dollar North Coast hideaway is a Hemsworth, but not the one you’re thinking of.
It certainly looks like a house fit for a movie star with 100-year old reclaimed bridge timbers greeting guests at the front door and chocolate porcelain flooring.
The apartment in Emerald Beach sold for $2,320,000 just before Christmas last year, however, neither Hollywood stars Chris nor Liam were the buyers.
Instead, the son of a trucking and haulage company owner Ben Hemsworth is moving his family up from Sydney.
The price tag is hefty for the area and is one of the biggest buys this season.
Here are the other top purchases on the North Coast and the folks who bought them as summer comes to a close.
Casuarina
Sale Price: $4,025,000
This property is now owned by the Kate and Anthony Golle family, owners of ‘Tribal Wellness Movement’ who are also extremely active across anti-vaccination platforms on social media.
The couple were salespeople for Juice + supplements but in February 2020 the Juice Plus Company Australia Pty Ltd was fined $37,800 by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
They were fined for alleged advertising breaches relating to vitamin products for “promoting the products for a condition that is not permitted for this medicine, and health professional endorsement of the products.”
Their new home was originally bought for just over $1 million in 2014 and has sold for just over $4 million two years into a pandemic.
Located in a very exclusive part of Casuarina, this house has incredible views of the ocean and the green tropics of the Tweed coast from the bedrooms.
Suffolk Park
Sale Price: $2,160,000
A very generous 606sqm estate, this Suffolk Park home doesn’t stand out from the crowd, until you walk in.
A modern interior and a relaxed outdoor area provide a family with comfort in this three bedroom house.
The property was bought by one of New South Wales most senior craft brewers Andrew Meli alongside his wife and former rural journalist Lisa Griplas.
Meli (centre) is currently senior brewer at Earth Beer company in Cudgen and was the former head brewer at Wandana brewing in Mullumbimby.
Lennox Head
Sale Price: $2,260,000
Former owner of O-pes Restaurant and bar in Lennox Head Wayne Slater has snapped up this striking modern build.
A very sleek and professional look, this house is all business and perfect for a Lennox local business owner.
His partner Michelle Slater runs her own private art business with some of her work on display at Mist Gallery on Cabarita Beach.
Mullumbimby
Sale Price: $2,630,000
This tropical cottage-style home was bought by Mullumbimby’s best amateur golfers Joan and Bob Neate.
It is quite literally surrounded by nature.
The new owners have paid a pretty penny for it but don’t look like they’ll be giving up the golf clubs anytime soon after Joan’s name was added to the Byron Bay Ladies Champions board after winning the 27-hole tournament in June last year.
