THEY went, they fought and although they didn’t conquer, the Wanderers are alive and looking ahead.

At least that’s the case for Kings Langley-bred defender Scott Jamieson, who spoke to the Advocate as he waited for a flight home from Adelaide on Monday.

“I’m all right, I suppose I’m just coming to terms with what happened,” Jamieson said of his team’s 3-1 A- League grand final loss to Adelaide United. “Today’s a new day and I’m still alive — no one has died.”

Jamieson sounded disappointed but was looking forward to the Western Sydney Wanderers’ awards ceremony on Tuesday night.

“We will all come together as a club — just the staff and partners and some members, so that will be good,” he said.

As for the more distant future, the star — who was named a defender in the Professional Football Association’s 2015/16 A League Team of the Season — said he and his fellow players would take some “down time”.

“We’ll come back for pre-season and try to figure out how to reach next year’s grand final and win.”

The 27-year-old said he planned to take a holiday.

It was also a sombre weekend in the NSW Premier League, with Blacktown City losing 3-2 to Rockdale City Suns, and the Spartans drawing 1-1 with Manly United.
