Olympic swimming champion Ariarne Titmus is a pro at making a splash.
And that’s exactly what she did when she made a special appearance at Harvey Norman in Alexandria last Friday.
The 22-year-old sporting hero and role model met with excited fans as she autographed posters, swimming bags and caps.
One fan brought along an Olympic book filled with famous signatures.
“A highlight was meeting Katie ... she is just a brilliant lady who is such a go-getter,” Titmus said.
“I love meeting little kids and keen swimmers. I remember what it was like when I was younger meeting my idols. I hope I can have the same effect on young swimmers today.”
Titmus has been a Harvey Norman brand ambassador since 2020.
Paul Meirau, proprietor home appliances at Harvey Norman, said the event was a success.
“Having the opportunity to bring Ariarne to our local stores, staff and customers is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, getting to meet an Olympic champion,” he said.
“They have been looking forward to this for weeks.”
Mr Meirau said it was a busy afternoon for Titmus, with countless smiles in the store as kids met their swimming idol.
“This is where Ariarne shines. She loves interacting with her fans, sharing her knowledge and giving inspiration to our next generation of superstars ... some very happy fans today,” he said.
Titmus is one of the nation’s most high-profile athletes after an extraordinary performance at the Tokyo Olympics, where she won gold in the 200m and 400m freestyle events.
