A new cycle track from Bondi Junction to Sydney CBD will help fill the “missing links” in the city’s cycling networks.
The Eastern Suburbs Cycleway link, to be built in partnership by the State Government and Waverley and City of Sydney councils, would be a fully separated track running from Oxford St onto Moore Park Rd and the CBD.
Transport Minister Andrew Constance announced on Saturday it would be delivered within the next term of government, if the Liberal Party is returned at this month’s NSW Election.
The link would use the existing track on the northern side of Centennial Park between York and Lang roads.
It could eventually connect to the Spring St and Bourke St cycleways.
Mr Constance has promised an extra $197 million towards the state’s “active transport” program, taking its commitment to $600 million over the next five years.
“We want to improve links in the city, the regions and our suburbs to encourage people to get out and about,” he said.

“That’s why this government is committed to continuing to invest an unprecedented amount on active transport infrastructure.”
Coogee state Liberal MP Bruce Notley-Smith said the project would encourage more people to get off the roads and “into the fresh air”.
The final route for the link will be subject to community consultation.
