Former Liberal party leader Kerry Chikarovski’s son, who a court was told is allegedly known by the handle “Aus Coke King”, has been pictured for the first time outside a Sydney police station after he was granted $500,000 bail for allegedly operating a large-scale drug operation on the dark web.
Mark Chikarovski, was seen leaving Waverley police station on Tuesday with his lawyer after being granted bail at Waverley Local Court by Magistrate Ross Hudson on Friday.
In hearing the 38-year-old’s bail application, Magistrate Hudson noted the allegations made against him were “serious” with alleged police facts, read in open court, detailing how Chikarovski allegedly used the moniker “Aus Coke King” and sent out orders - made through the dark web - from Australia Post boxes.
Magistrate Hudson referenced “electronic evidence” of Chikarovski’s attendance on a number of occasions with drugs “ranging from methamphetamine to cocaine”.
The court heard during his arrest police found Chikarovski “partially barricaded” in the master bedroom, with officers required to force entry.
Police addressed the media on Friday and said it would be alleged the 38-year-old was packing illegal drugs when police raided the address.
Bail was granted on the conditions of a $500,000 surety, an 8pm-6am curfew, residing at an Tamarama address and reporting to police daily.
The proceedings are next listed before Downing Centre Local Court on July 13.
Chikarovski’s mother led the Liberal Party from 1999 to 2002 and was told of her son’s arrest hours after it happened on Thursday.
She told this publication she had “absolutely no comment to make”.
