The fate of a former trainee police officer charged with illegally accessing police data while on the job is set to be decided next month.

Emily Walker, 22, of Hillsdale, is set to be sentenced at Waverley Local Court on August 15.

The former police officer previously pleaded guilty to accessing or modifying restricted data held in a computer.

Walker appeared at court on Tuesday with her lawyer when the matter was given a sentence date.

In a previous statement, a NSW Police spokesman said an investigation began in November 2022 following reports a probationary constable attached to a command in the central metro region had illegally accessed restricted data while undertaking their duties.

Walker was charged on April 14. She had been suspended with pay from November 2022.

A NSW Police spokesman confirmed last month Walker was no longer employed by the NSW Police Force.

Police documents tendered to court outline the unauthorised access occurred between July 11 and September 26 at Waverley.

The matter will return to Waverley Local Court next month.
