One of Australia’s most high-profile chefs is set to fight an allegation he sped through a Sydney school zone in a Porsche.
Former MasterChef host Matt Moran, who owns a string of Sydney restaurants including Chiswick and Aria, is facing a charge of driving Class A motor vehicle through a school zone at a speed in excess of 20km/h above the limit.
The 55-year-old Clovelly resident was not present in the Downing Centre Local Court on Monday, when his lawyer said he had been instructed to enter a not guilty plea.
Court documents allege Moran sped through a school zone on Anzac Parade, in Sydney’s east, at 67 km/h in a 2020 Porsche Cayenne.
The alleged offence occurred in a zone with a 40km/h limit on May 25.
Moran is now set to defend the charge at a hearing set down for June 12 next year.
