An award-winning eastern suburbs real estate director’s fall from grace has been aired in court after he crashed his Range Rover into a pole while three times over the limit and with cocaine in his system.

Marcello Paul Bo, who is director of Randwick-based agency Ray White Park Coast East, faced Waverley Local Court on Tuesday where he was convicted and fined $880 after pleading guilty to driving with a mid-range PCA while having an illicit drug in his system.

Court documents state the 57-year-old crashed his black Range Rover into a power pole on Macpherson St about 8.15pm on December 28.

Bo’s partner, who was in the passenger seat, had to be taken to Prince of Wales Hospital suffering a sprained wrist.

The power pole was “severely damaged” and leaning on a “dangerous angle”.

Court documents stated Bo had bloodshot eyes, was unsteady on his feet and was not able to follow police directions. He was breath tested and returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.144, which placed him on the cusp of being three times the legal driving limit.

The real estate agent also had cocaine in his system.

He was arrested and taken to Waverley Police Station where he told police he consumed up to six glasses of white wine at the Double Bay Japanese restaurant Tanuki.

When officers asked him where and when he consumed the cocaine, he replied: “I don’t take drugs.”

During his sentence, Bo’s lawyer said his client realised he should not have been driving with the substances in his system.

He said Bo drove to the restaurant and had initially taken an Uber back to his Bronte home. However when he realised he left his house keys in the car, he returned to the vehicle and drove it home.

“He is a responsible person, unfortunately he made a rash decision that night,” he said.

Magistrate Michael Barko said Bo lost control of his car and crashed in a busy residential area before testing positive to cocaine and alcohol.

“You can’t get much worse than that,” he said. “The defendant was a notch below high-range drink driving. It’s not a pretty scenario.”

Bo’s licence was disqualified for six months and he must have an interlock device installed on his car for one year when he is back on the roads.

Bo has received numerous real estate awards over the years including No 1 Selling Agent in NSW within the Ray White network.
