Alicia Beveridge: Barry’s trainer charged with drink, drug driving

One of a cult Australian gym’s most senior instructors and head of curriculum has been busted driving under the influence – on the way to the gym to teach a class.

A senior instructor at a cult Australian fitness franchise was busted behind the wheel with cocaine and alcohol in her system as she made her way to work at the gym.

Alicia Beveridge, 38, was charged with mid-range drink-driving with drugs in her system after she was pulled over at a stationary random breath testing location in Woollahra in December last year.

Documents tendered to Waverley Local Court reveal Beveridge was on her way to work at 5.30am on December 29 when she blew 0.085 and an oral fluid test divulged she had cocaine in her system.

“While at Waverley police station the accused admitted to consuming a bottle of red wine the night before at her home,” police facts state.

In relation to the taking of drugs, Beveridge stated she “had two lines” at her house the day prior. .

Police state Beveridge told them she was on her way to work at Barry’s Bootcamp Australia, where she is a founding instructor.

Beveridge is also the gym’s Australia Pacific head of curriculum and the first ever Australia Pacific trainer to attain the rank of “master instructor”.

The gym describes itself as “original high-intensity workout” which “burns up to 1000 calories in one class, tones muscle, maximises fat loss, and increases your metabolism”.

The Rose Bay woman became emotional as Magistrate Ross Hudson gave her a stern warning about her “selfish” behaviour, calling upon the death and destruction he had seen as a consequence of drink and drug driving while he was a country magistrate and a NSW coroner.

“It’s a steep learning curve, learn quickly,” Mr Hudson said.

Beveridge was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for three months before she will have to use an interlock device in her car for 12 months.

On Instagram, Beveridge describes herself as an “endorphin dealer” and “resident hype girl”.
