Australia's growing drug crisis

An eastern suburbs socialite posed with a huge bottle of GBL and two sizeable bags of weed for photos before police cracked her significant drug supply operation open.

Alexandra Moss, 27, wiped away tears on an audiovisual link as her solicitor entered pleas of guilty to large commercial drug supply; commercial drug supply; indictable drug supply; small drug supply and dealing with property crime proceeds at Downing Centre Local Court.

Police busted the Rose Bay woman supplying 17L of gammabutyrolactane, or GBL, 624.8g of cocaine, and quantities of MDMA, methamphetamine and cannabis, as well as possessing methamphetamine and $1200 cash.

Documents tendered to the court reveal the astonishing lengths Moss went to facilitate her supply – investing tens of thousands of dollars, bottling GBL in empty Santa Vitoria bottles from her bathtub, and obtaining cocaine so high quality it sold for $400 a bag.

In a text to a friend about obtaining several litres of GBL, Moss quipped “it’s only 29 years jail”.

Agreed police facts tendered to the court state of the drugs in question: “It’s everywhere, Moss says her bathtub is filled,”.

“(In another text to a different friend), Moss says she has 35 milk cartons sitting in her bathtub and is panicking.”

Nine days before her fateful arrest, Moss told friends she had just come off a four day bender and would “vomit if she ever sees cocaine again”, while in other texts she discusses supplying drugs to “Jeff the barrister”.

One week before, Moss also complained to yet another contact that she was awaiting payment for cocaine, MDMA and methamphetamine from 10 people.

“Moss says she will create a group to name and shame them called ‘peasants who can’t afford to party’,” agreed police facts state.

Police descended on Moss’ address on April 15 last year, uncovering the evidence of her supply along with cash, multiple mobile phones, prescription drugs, three pharmaceutical benefit scheme prescription pads, and a police taser and torch.
