Drinks with a view are coming soon to a popular Riverina club with $35,000 plans for an lakeside entertainment deck that will accommodate more events and outdoor dining approved.
Wagga Council has approved plans for a 20m by 6m entertainment deck on the watefront at the Wagga Boat Club in Lake Albert.
The proposed deck will add to their existing beer garden, allowing visitors and guests to dine over the water.
Wagga Boat Club commodore Michael Henderson said the deck would give the club the opportunity to employ more staff and host more events in the region.
“The new deck will increase the number of people attending our premises, we will also be able to employ more staff as these numbers increase,” said Mr Henderson.
“The deck will be a benefit to all patrons attending the club, it will be accessible to people with disabilities.
The development application was just approved on July 27, as of yet there is no clear indication of when construction is expected to begin.
The Wagga Boat club, or the ‘Boaty’ as it is known to locals has been an icon in the Wagga Community since 1952.
The Boaty currently boasts a large function room, upstairs bar and a lower level bar and beer garden.
The proposed deck will allow for more space for guest and uninterrupted views of the lake, and wildlife.
