A private school education can be a substantial household expense, but not all schools are as costly as you may think.

New data revealed in Futurity Investment Group’s Planning for Education Index has revealed Sydney is the most expensive city for independent schooling in Australia, with a staggering $448,000 estimated cost over the course of a child’s education.

Even the most expensive school in Wagga comes nowhere near that amount.

The priciest school in Wagga is The Riverina Anglican College with prices per year at $5900.

The cheapest school in the area is Sacred Heart costing only $1070 per year.

Here is our full run down of all the private schools located in Wagga and how much they will cost.

The Riverina Anglican College (TRAC):

Riverina Anglican College is an independent Anglican co-education school located in Wagga.

Prices per student per year are for Years 7-12 are $5900.

TRAC also offers discount rates for students enrolled in the school who are from the same family.

With a second child discount of 25 per cent, third child at per cent and a fourth child with a discount of 50 per cent.

The college declares on its website it is has “a rich history in success and achievement”.

“We aim to guide our students to become productive, responsible and caring global citizens of the future who are conscious of their responsibility to society and have the capacity to make a real contribution to it,” a statement said.

Mary Mackillop College

Mary Mackillop College is a Roman Catholic co-ed secondary school, which is located in Wagga’s CBD.

The annual fees of Roman Catholic high schools in Wagga range from $1050 to $3520 per student.

Mary MacKillop College is an independent school that seeks to form students as candidates for Heaven.

The school was founded in 2007.

Mater Dei Catholic College

Mater Dei Catholic College is a secondary college for students from years 7-12, with Mater Dei Catholic Primary School educating students from Kindergarten to Year-6.

They operate next door to each other but are completely separate schools.

The Mater Dei website states its “Catholic community strongly believes in and demonstrates the Gospel values of faith, justice, tolerance, hope, honesty, service, trust, forgiveness and respect.

“A Mater Dei education is one in which the elements of faith, learning and community are present in the education of young people.”

The school fees per annum are $4385 (Year 7-8), $4635 (Year 9-10) and $4935 (Year 11-12).

A spokesman for Catholic Education (Wagga Diocese) said affordability ensured no child would be disadvantaged because of a family’s financial circumstances.

“We’re committed to affordability and our modest fees make sure that a high-quality Catholic education is within reach for local families,” he said.

“The Catholic Education, Diocese of Wagga Wagga, is always deeply committed to ensuring that no Catholic family will be denied a high-quality Catholic education due to a genuine incapacity to pay all or part of their children’s school fees.
“Families experiencing financial hardship are always encouraged to seek support by contacting their school principal for a confidential conversation.”

The average annual school fees in our diocese are currently $1700 per year for primary students and $4800 per year for secondary school students.

Discounts are also offered for each additional child enrolled at any of our schools.

Tuition fees for a first child in Year 7 comes in at just over $2000.

Kildare Catholic College

Kildare Catholic College is a Catholic Systemic Secondary School located in Wagga.

Weekly boarding is offered at the Mt Erin Boarding House.

Kildare caters for more than 10% of the more than 8000 students educated in the diocese of Wagga Wagga.

Catholic Education (Wagga Wagga Diocese) supports 26 primary schools and five secondary schools across the Riverina and the Murrumbidgee area.

Boarding facilities can be accessed by three of their secondary schools.

There are five secondary schools and 26 primary schools which educate more than 8000 students in the Wagga Wagga Diocese.

Kildare caters for more than 10 per cent of these students and take seriously the main function of educating for life in the Catholic setting.
A spokesman for Catholic Education (Diocese of Wagga) said low fees were a priority for education.
“Our 31 low-fee Catholic systemic schools are able to educate children throughout the entirety of their schooling (K-12) and are connected to local parishes and administered by a central diocesan office,” the spokesman said.

Wagga Wagga Christian College’s vision is to provide excellent academic and practical education by preparing students to “act justly, love mercy and walk humbly before God”.

Christian College School principal Phillip Wilson said current and past students continued to excel and surpass expectation, leaving school prepared.

“Staff invest in more than just the academic classroom engagement, they invest in the heart of the child’s development, that is, knowing who they are, what they might achieve and their place in the world and before God,” Mr Wilson said.

“The structures and facilities that we enjoy, and are developing in response to the needs of our growing College community, are modern and well planned.”

Prices for 2022 for Kindergarten to Year 4 is a total yearly amount of $3990, Year 5-6 is $4640, Year 7-8 is $5800 and Year 9-12 is $6950 per year.

Sacred Heart is a co-ed Catholic school teaching students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

The family and capital fee is $1070 per family of four children per term, totalling $4280 per year for four children.

This equates to $24 dollars per week, however if there are more than one child in the family it becomes cheaper again.

One child per term is $444, with a total of $1776 per year for an education.

Henschke Catholic Primary School’s website states its aim to is to instil Catholic ethos and values into all aspects of student’s learning and look to nurture each individual’s talents and skills through our range of curriculum experiences and extra-curricular opportunities.

At Henschke, one child’s education will cost a yearly total of $1677.

The price also becomes cheaper for the more children per family enrolled in the school.

Four children enrolled at the school is a yearly total of $4996 per year.
