A 48-year old man who was dramatically arrested outside Wagga Local Court last week after allegedly trying to enter the premises without a face mask has appeared back in court.

Paul Raymond Hercules, 48, from Tolland was back in court after he refused to wear a face mask when entering the courthouse last week for matters regarding breaching Covid health guidelines for gathering at a protest earlier this month.

Mr Hercules entered a plea of not guilty to seven charges including resisting an officer, failing to comply with carrying a face mask, failing to comply with noticed direction and for using offensive language in public.

Mr Hercules appeared before Magistrate Christopher Halburd, when asked how he pleads, Mr Hercules responded, “that direction exceeded the law, there is no pleading.”

“The police are unlawful soldiers and they have no standing,” Mr Hercules said.

Magistrate Halburd told the court he accepted the not guilty plea and the matter would proceed to a hearing.

Mr Hercules response was, “The court cannot enter a plea for me, I am a man, the court purposely and knowingly put in these orders and exceeded the law.

Mr Hercules stated when the sheriffs tackled him outside the courthouse last week that they were, “wonderful traitors.”

The matter was adjourned to Wagga Local Court on November 30 where a date will be set for a hearing.
