A ute passenger is in a serious condition and parts of the Hume Hwy are closed following a car and truck crash.

Emergency services flocked to the busy highway 5km south of Tarcutta, just past Keajura Rd, after a ute and a semi-trailer collided shortly before 8am on Friday.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said two men in their 30s were treated by paramedics, with the ute passenger was flown to the Canberra Hospital by helicopter in a serious condition for treatment.

Another man in his 30s was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital with head and neck injuries.

The 38-year-old male truck driver was uninjured.

A crime scene has been established and is being investigated by police currently at the scene.

The highway is closed northbound with delays expected.

Live Traffic NSW advised drivers travelling from Kyeamba will be diverted via Tumbarumba Rd, Sturt Highway to return to the Hume Hwy.

The diversion was suitable for all vehicles and will add around 30 minutes extra travel time.
