A Victorian man allegedly had a cocktail of drugs in his system when he was involved in a serious crash which left his passenger in a critical condition in Henty.
Corey Hastings, 27, appeared before Wagga Local Court on December 8 charged with dangerous driving, negligent driving and two counts of aggravated driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, driving with an illicit drug present in blood, using a vehicle that did not comply with tyre standards and one count of drive recklessly/ furiously speed in a manner dangerous.
Mr Hastings has not yet entered a plea.
Police allege Mr Hastings was speeding in a silver Nissan Tida when it collided with a tree around 10.40pm on January 23.
The 27-year-old managed to free himself from the wreckage but two passengers, a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, were in the back of the car and were trapped for a short time.
The 22-year-old man was taken to Albury Hospital before being flown to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.
The 21-year-old was taken to Wagga Wagga Hospital and released after being treated for minor injuries.
Police also allege Mr Hastings had exceeded the speed limit by more than 45km/h at the time.
Court documents state Mr Hastings was substantially impaired by the fact he was under the influence of the drug ice and he also had a cocktail of drugs in his system including, methamphetamine, amphetamine, cocaine, cannabis and MDMA.
Mr Hastings is currently on bail and will appear before Wagga Local Court on February 16, 2022.
