Wagga’s best hairdresser revealed

Our subscribers have decided, and in no particular order, the best hairdresser in Wagga title is is a joint tie between Jodie Dodds at Unique Edge, Jess Firbank at The Suite and Jessica Francis at Wish Hair and Beauty.
Ms Francis said she was overwhelmed with joy when she heard locals considered her among the best in the business.
“It means so much and is so rewarding to hear that after so many years of hard work,” Ms Francis said.
“My Mum, Dad, my partner Jake, children, colleagues and clients are the reason why I am able to do what I love to do,” she said.
“Many of my clients are like family and have been with me since when I was an apprentice.
Ms Francis began her hairdressing career two decades ago and has owned Wish Hair and Beauty for 10 years.
She has no plans of slowing down as the salon is relocating to a bigger premises earlier next year.
While over at Unique Edge in Gurwood St Jodie Dodds said she was a “little gobsmacked” to receive the title.
“I find hairdressing extremely rewarding, the fact that I know I am able to make someone‘s day, boost people’s self esteem or even help them through problems with a chat is really special,” Ms Dodds said.
Ms Dodds has nearly 15 years of industry experience and has been at Unique Edge for 5 years this month.
“I love doing colours but the thing I love most is cutting hair because that’s the time during the process that it’s just you and your client and you can give them your undivided attention,” she said.
While Jess Firbank at the Suite Wagga thought she didn‘t even have a chance of winning after looking at the list of the other “amazing local hairdressers” nominated.
“It has made my day, I rang me partner crying, it’s such a special honour,” Ms Firbank said.
After 18 years of hairdressing, with 13 spent in Wagga, Ms Firbank bought The Suite in July this year.
“It’s just around the corner from my son’s school,” Ms Firbank said.
“I live and breathe hairdressing.
“When I jump into bed after a hectic day of work, you can find me on Facebook and Instagram looking at hair tutorials and videos.
“I am so privileged that I can wake up every morning and love what I do and love the people I work with,” she said.
