Women in League: 23 of the south coast’s best local female footy players

Between League Tag and Open Women’s Tackle, there are plenty of talented female footy guns on the NSW south coast. Check out our list of local stars.

Last weekend, Women in League Round took place across all Group 7 competitions, celebrating increased playing numbers among women and recognising the talented female footy stars NSW has.

Between the Open Women’s Tackle competition and two divisions of League Tag, there is plenty of opportunity for women to get involved with footy within Group 7.

We’ve compiled a list of 22 of the brightest female footy stars from the south coast of NSW across tag and tackle who have been lighting up their competitions in 2023.

Tarryn Docker (Shellharbour Sharks)

Captain halfback of the LLT1 team, Docker has plenty of experience under the belt and finds a good balance between being a mother and playing some great footy.

A good organiser and goalkicker, she plays both league tag and tackle.

Shaylee Dodd (Shellharbour Sharks)

A lock forward with pace to burn.

Crossed for four tries against Albion Park-Oak Flats in Women in League Round, bringing her total to a staggering 13 tries in seven games.

Georgia Thomas (Jamberoo Superoos)

Halfback Thomas has been in and around footy for a long time, playing league tag and tackle.

A great attitude and great commitment to the sport, she steers the ship for the Jamberoo side.

Chelsea Tout (Jamberoo Superoos)

Another among the Jamberoo side who has played across a number of codes from league tag to tackle to OzTag.

Super talented five-eighth/ball playing middle with a great commitment to the game.

Lauren Murty (Jamberoo Superoos)

A hard running centre/winger also playing both league tag and tackle.

A key player defensively for the Superoos, with her tagging ability in the middle of the park second to none.

Jordyn Preston (Stingrays of Shellharbour)

Has returned from representative duties with the inaugural Illawarra Steelers NSW Women’s Premiership team with a bang.

Playing lock forward, she picked up four tries in a single game in round two against Jamberoo.

A five-eighth with excellent organisation skills in attack, creating a multitude of opportunities for her teammates to flourish.

Reads the play well and comes up with a lot of line breaks, while showing her worth defensively with a good tagging game as well.

Indie Bostock (Stingrays of Shellharbour)

Brother to current Dolphin in the NRL Jack Bostock, Indie is a talented fullback who has been killing it this season.

Voted Best and Fairest for the LLT1 side and Best Back for the U18 tackle team in 2022, Bostock has great line speed and ball returning ability, often running the length of the field to score tries.

Jaimee-Lee Cotter (Warilla-Lake South Gorillas)

Part of the St George NSW Women’s Premiership team, Cotter is captain/coach of the LLT1 side and also the league’s top scorer in the tackle competition with a very healthy eight tries in three game.

A good communicator from fullback and an exceptional leader of her side.

Erin Blackwell (Warilla-Lake South Gorillas)

Another dabbling in both tackle and league tag, Blackwell is a middle player with great defensive reads.

Good on her feet, she is agile and runs nice lines.

Alivia Heath (Warilla-Lake South Gorillas)

A fill in captain while Cotter was on representative duty, Heath rose to occasion well.

A halfback who has developed a mean step off of both feet and a great ballplayer.

Ruby Marshall (Berry Shoalhaven Heads Magpies)

A young gun with “a bit of everything” according to her coach.

Part of the Illawarra Steelers Lisa Fiaola Cup side, Marshall is an exciting fullback with good pace and a cool head in attack and defence.

Ally Robinson (Berry Shoalhaven Heads Magpies)

Captain Robinson has a few more years under her belt than the mostly youthful Magpies side, which is invaluable as she leads the line.

A cool head through the middle, solid defensively and possessing a wicked chip kick.

Alivia Brown (Milton Ulladulla Bulldogs)

A versatile player who has the potential to line up in fullback or halfback, but has found her success from the back row so far this season.

Knows how to run a hard line and has some great on-ball skills.

Cheyanne Hatch (Milton Ulladulla Bulldogs)

The general of the Bulldogs tackle team, the five-eighth is a great organiser and knows how to direct her girls.

Has plenty of experience in the game which allows her to always choose the best option.

Nakiah-Jayde Smith (Milton Ulladulla Bulldogs)

Just 17 years old and very quiet, but making a big contribution to the Bulldogs tackle team week in week out.

A hooker who possesses magic in both attack and defence, with coach Harris seeing a lot of potential in her.

Ebony Murray (Milton Ulladulla Bulldogs)

Instrumental fullback to the leaders of the LLT1 competition, leading the competition for overall points.

Thrives for a line break with great pace and agility and shows great intelligence in her ball movement.

Kirra Ramsey (Albion Park-Oak Flats Eagles)

A leader for the Eagles who has represented the Group 7 All Stars team.

Leads by example through the middle, loves getting her hands on the ball and coordinates her side expertly.

Brittany Constable (Albion Park-Oak Flats Eagles)

A former South Sydney Rabbitohs representative in the NSW Women’s Premiership, Constable has returned to LLT1 after recently giving birth.

Here wealth of experience is invaluable to the side, operating mostly from the centre role.

Alyssa O’Sullivan (Albion Park-Oak Flats Eagles)

A fullback who has been around the game for quite a while and continually improves her skills.

A leader among the Eagles, safe under the high ball and an excellent communicator.

Carly Abbott (Gerringong Lions)

Captain of the side who has been around since the inaugural team.

Leads by example from fullback, dependable in attack and defence, her positivity rubbing off on the girls around her.

Chloe Egan (Gerringong Lions)

A hooker with an excellent tagging game.

Keeps calm, stays positive and gets stuck in every week to put in the hard yards.
