An Eden man charged with stabbing his stepfather during an argument with a kitchen knife, leaving him fighting for his life, has been granted bail after three months in custody.
Police allege Trevor Fleet, 35, and his 64-year-old stepfather got into a physical altercation on August 3 at his stepfather’s Eden home before Fleet allegedly stabbed him in the stomach.
So serious were the man’s injuries, he was flown from Bega’s South East Regional Hospital to Canberra Hospital.
Fleet was granted bail with strict conditions in the NSW Supreme Court on November 3, and is yet to enter a plea to the charge of reckless wounding.
Justice Mark Ierace granted Fleet bail with strict conditions, including reporting twice a week to Eden Police Station, abstaining from drugs and alcohol and not going within one kilometre of his stepfather’s home.
He must also adhere to a curfew.
Fleet, a partial paraplegic, had been without his wheelchair and medication for weeks after his arrest.
He will face Bega Local Court on November 12.
