Storm Hyde: Man refused bail over firearm charges

A South Coast man has unleashed an expletive-ridden outburst in court via video link when he was denied bail, yelling out “f**k youse all”, before the magistrate muted him.

A man who police accused of having a fake gun when he allegedly committed a string of bizarre break ins on the South Coast, has lashed out in a courtroom after he was refused bail.

Storm Leigh Mellish, otherwise known as Storm Hyde, ranted about being attacked while in custody before he was muted by the magistrate.

“Fuck youse all,” he said via AVL from South Coast Correctional Centre.

“I get bashed every day because of you c****.”

Hyde, 26, was formally refused bail by Magistrate Gabriel Fleming at Nowra Local Court on Friday.

According to police documents, Hyde was armed with a replica pistol when he allegedly committed a string of bizarre offences in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Police documents allege multiple people saw Hyde standing out the back of their neighbour’s house in Sanctuary Point about 2.30am on July 23. He pointed a black handgun, described as slightly smaller than a Glock, at them before threatening to shoot, the documents state.

Hyde then went to another Sanctuary Point address about 6.45am, where he was known to the alleged victim and according to police documents, the occupant heard a window smash before Hyde poked his head through the frame.

Police allege Hyde started ranting about a lotto ticket and then pointed the gun at the man and threatened him.

“I’ll fucking kill you c***,” police allege Hyde said.

The man froze and was allegedly threatened a number of times. The man then picked up an eel spike and told the accused to “f*** off” before Hyde retreated from the window, documents stated.

A short-time later, a woman noticed him standing outside her window.

Hyde asked for a cigarette and showed the woman his pistol allegedly saying “all m****** f****** are going to pay soon”.

About 7.05am that morning, officers arrested him area after multiple people called police.

Court documents state Hyde told police he had a gun, which was a black KJ Works gel blaster that resembled a semi-automatic pistol.

He was charged with three counts of enter building or land with firearm or imitation firearm, two counts of posses unauthorised firearm, one count of use unauthorised firearm, and one count of aggravated break and enter.

Hyde did not enter any pleas. His case was adjourned to September 18.
