Young gun real estate agents are changing the game along the south coast, with some as young as 22 already selling multiple properties.

But who are these young realtors thriving in the industry and why did they want to get involved?

Here are some of the young realtors booming in the exploding housing market from Bega to Nowra.

Cassandra Ambrose, 35, Bega Valley Realty:

Cassandra Ambrose from Bega Valley Realty has been a realtor for only a few years now, but Ms Ambrose said it had been a rewarding experience.

“I love it so much,” she said.

Her agency in Bega only opened in September 2019, but since then, Ms Ambrose has found a passion in housing people who need it most.

Mrs Ambrose joined the ‘South Coast Justice’, a community group who work to house the homeless along the south coast.

She said she wanted to use her experience and knowledge as a realtor to assist in the homelessness crisis hitting her region.

“Homelessness seems to be falling on deaf ears in the government, so I thought it was time for us realtors to fix it ourselves,” she said.

“It’s a community run group and it is a remarkable thing.”

Ms Ambrose’s works in sales and rental at her firm, with her roles including customer relations, selling, leasing, rental management and more.

Along with wanting to help with major issues facing her region, Ms Ambrose said the joy of putting young couples and people in homes made her job worth it.

“It’s so good to help people and being able to put people in homes, whether they be young or old means a lot to me,” she said. “It’s why I do what I do.”

Matthew Hughes, 29, Elders Bega:

Matthew Hughes became a realtor after studying marketing at university.

Since then, Mr Hughes worked at multiple marketing agencies before becoming a sales representative at Elders in Bega.

“This job, compared to marketing, sees you interacting with people a lot more,” Mr Hughes said. “But my skills in marketing have come in handy, because I essentially need to advertise myself in a way, so people are happy to let me sell their homes.

“This job takes a lot of passion and hard work.”

As a sales representative, Mr Hughes focuses on the sales of properties of all shapes and sizes around his region.

Mr Hughes has been a realtor since he was 26, and said he had sold “countless” properties since.

“I can’t think of a number off the top of my head, but I’ve been very busy,” he said.

Being a young realtor has been a positive thing for Mr Hughes, who said he was becoming known as the new “young realtor who is selling properties all around the Bega Valley”.

“People see me in the street and they know that I’m that guy who has been selling properties, the new young guy out and about and I love that,” he said.

Mr Hughes said there was a new-found need for younger people in the real estate industry, noting they understood the struggles of buying a first home best.

“The industry is changing and young people looking to buy homes or rent homes seem to trust younger people with that more, at least from what I’ve seen in my experience.”

Olivia Clarke, 30, My Agent Team Batemans Bay:

Olivia Clarke may only be young, but she is already making huge strides in the real estate game, already becoming the head of property management at My Agent Team in Batemans Bay.

“It’s a huge job with massive challenges, but it has been so rewarding,” she said.

The new gig is a massive change from Mrs Clarke’s previous job, which saw her working close with animals at Mogo Wildlife Park.

The move to real estate from zookeeping was a difficult choice for the young gun relator, who said she loved working with the exotic animals.

“It was a steep learning curve, but I made the decision to move because I wanted change,” she said. “I’ve only been with the team for 10 months, so to be already running my own department is just amazing.”

Mrs Clarke’s roles include managing rentals, rental inspections and lease management.

“It can be challenging, but I love it and I can’t wait to keep growing in the real estate industry in Batemans Bay,” she said.

Josh Adams, 27, Raine and Horne Nowra:

Josh Adams, from Raine and Horne in Nowra, has already achieved so much in the housing market at only 27 years old.

“I bought my first home when I was 18 after working hard and saving every cent,” he said.

For Mr Adams, it was a combination of a strong interest in the housing market and purchasing his first home so young which led him down the realtor path.

“After buying my home, I continued to watch the market, invested in some properties, but I decided I wanted to do more, which is why I became a realtor,” he said. “It was just the natural progression.”

The move has seen Mr Adams sell properties from large land holdings, to smaller units and homes.

But despite what he sells, Mr Adams said seeing the smiles on the faces of new property owners made it all worth it.

“I love this job and I can’t wait to keep growing in my position,” he said.

Mr Adams now hopes to run his own firm within 10 years, saying it was “the next step” for him.

“Running a firm in a regional town like Nowra would be the ideal goal for me in the future and I think if I keep working hard, moving up the ladder in the industry, I can get there,” he said.

Brendan Mitrovski, 22, One Agency Elite Group Nowra:

Brendan Mitrovski from One Agency Elite Group in Nowra was so eager to become a realtor, at only 18, he dropped out of university just to get started.

“I was always so interested in the market, like really interested, I couldn’t wait any longer, I just had to get started,” he said.

Since making the big decision, Mr Mitrovski has already sold multiple houses and large properties at the young age.

“It took a while to get into the swing of things, especially being so young when I started, but I’ve already done so much,” he said.

Mr Mitrovski works in sales at his firm, with his roles including customer relations, selling, leasing and more.

Despite his age, Mr Mitrovski said he knew he had already found what he would be spending his life doing.

“In 10 years, I hope to be still selling homes in regional areas like this and I would encourage anyone young like me who is interested in the housing market to consider a career as a realtor,” he said.

“It’s challenging, fun, no day is the same, you meet some great people and get to help people achieve their dreams of home ownership.”
