Shaun Reid, 34, appeared before the Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, pleading guilty to three counts of sexual intercourse with a child.

The Grabben Gullen man was originally charged with two additional counts of sexual intercourse with a child and seven counts of indecent assault, however these were withdrawn on Monday.

Documents tendered to the court reveal Reid’s relationship with the girl occurred in 2014 in the Batemans Bay region, while the 24-year-old had a fiance and son.

Court documents state the girl’s mother was aware of the visits, but did not know of the sexual interactions.

The 24-year-old initially did not want to have sex, saying his son was in the room and stating he wanted to wait until she was 15.

However, the duo ultimately had sexual intercourse.

Shaun Reid's case has moved to the Bega District Court.

The facts state sexual intercourse occurred at least two more times in 2014.

Reid’s fiance left him in late 2014 for unrelated reasons, being unaware of his affair with the teen.

In late 2014, Reid ended the relationship with the young girl, telling her he missed his fiance and son.

However, court documents reveal the young girl informed her mother of the relationship after the break-up, who became angry at Reid, confronting him face-to-face.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry; it won’t happen again,” agreed facts state Reid told the girl’s mother.

Years later on May 5, 2022, Reid’s former victim attended a sexual offences office, confiding in her former relationship with the 24-year-old man.

The details were referred to the NSW Police, who began an investigation into Reid.

Reid was approached by officers on June 14 last year, where he refused to speak until he had a lawyer.

He was arrested and charged three months later.

In the Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, Reid’s lawyer Geoffrey Knox asked the court for an adjournment, a request not opposed by Magistrate Michael Love.

Reid’s case will be heard in the Bega District Court on March 3, 2025, where a sentencing date will be set.
