A charge of attempted murder was withdrawn by police.

Prosecutors allege Barker assaulted, choked and attempted to drown a woman known to him between 6am and 8am on January 24, 2020, at a Nowra home.

They allege he committed the offences as “retribution”, after his victim spoke to police about a previous incident.

Small, who has been refused bail, faced the Sydney Downing Centre District Court on October 22 via audio video link.

Barker will face Nowra District Court on November 19.
