Ricki Bourke: Narooma man allegedly broke into home and stole items

A man accused of breaking into a NSW south coast home with intent to commit a “serious” offence has been arrested and placed in custody, a court has heard.

A man who allegedly broke into a NSW south coast home before stealing items has been arrested and charged, according to a coastal court.

The alleged incident saw Ricki Bourke, 39, face the Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, charged with one count of aggravated break and enter to commit serious indictable offence.

The Narooma man is yet to enter a plea.

Documents tendered to the court state the 39-year-old allegedly entered a Hillcrest Crescent home in Kianga in the early hours of June 4 this year.

Police will allege Bourke stole items, however did not reveal what the items were.

The alleged incident was reported to police who, after almost a month of investigating, arrested the Narooma man on the morning of July 2 this year.

He was refused bail and has been in custody at the South Coast Correctional Centre.

In court on Monday, Bourke’s lawyer Daniel Turner said the case was with the DPP due to its seriousness.

Mr Turner said the case needed a lengthy adjournment to allow further negotiations to take place, however he suggested a plea could be entered during the next appearance.

The request was not opposed by Magistrate Michael Love, who adjourned the 39-year-old’s case by five weeks.

Bourke’s case will be mentioned in the Batemans Bay Local Court on October 14.
