Off With Their Hair and Ardor Hair Studio voted best hairdressers on the south coast

After putting out a call for nominations for the south coast’s best hairdresser of 2020 and counting the votes in our online poll the winner can be revealed.
Readers of The South Coast News had from Thursday to Sunday to vote for the best hairdresser in the region, with Jaymi Morris from Off With Their Hair in Nowra and Belinda Forrest from Ardor Hair Studio in Batemans Bay taking out the gold.
Ms Morris said her salon is a place where people can express themselves freely with no judgment.
“I’m always happy to listen and give anything a go, and I feel like I can connect with the client well enough to understand exactly what they want. We work through the processes of achieving their hair goals together so, at the end of the day, we’re on the same page and everyone is satisfied,” she said.
“It’s a fun time all the time”
She said she is “grateful” for the win, after putting in “time, heart and thought” into her work.
Ms Morris said she never planned on being a hairdresser, but after sweeping many floors during her apprenticeship she realised she loved the profession which has led her to becoming her own boss.
“I love knowing I can change someone’s whole attitude and way of thinking just by creating something that no one else can,” she said.
“It’s the individuality of my clients that keeps it interesting for me, and also to see the clients happy.
“There‘s nothing more joyful than knowing I helped someone become happy.”
Ms Forrest said her salon is a friendly and down to earth place, and said customers are drawn to her “crazy, chatty, positive attitude” which always comes with a smile.
When told she had won, Ms Forrest said she thought it was a hoax.
“I love to make people feel better about themselves,” she said.
“Clients come in not feeling the best about themselves and we can change the way they feel by doing what we love.
“It is a pretty amazing gift we can give.
“It is amazing what you can create with scissors, colour, foil and heat styling.”
