Man arrested at Batehaven petrol station, charged with multiple thefts at Moruya, Batemans Bay
The arrest of a man charged with multiple theft, fraud and driving charges on the south coast has allegedly left a policeman bruised.

The arrest of a Moruya Heads man charged with 25 theft, fraud and driving charges has left a policeman with bruising and soreness to his ribs and shoulders after the man was detained at a Batehaven petrol station on Wednesday.
The arrest at the Shell Coles Express service station on Beach Rd came as police concluded a month-long investigation into a string of car, motorbike and credit card thefts across Moruya and Batemans Bay.
The 24-year-old man, who is also allegedly wanted on five outstanding warrants, was arrested at 8.30am after a scuffle that allegedly left the senior constable with bruising and soreness to his rib cage and shoulder, and a cut to his elbow.
Cops allege the man also possessed several debit cards suspected of being stolen.
Investigations began in February into the theft of two cars, a motorbike, thefts at retail premises, as well as fraudulent purchases made using stolen credit and debit cards.
The man was taken to Batemans Bay police station before being moved to Batemans Bay Hospital after complaining of soreness.
The police officer did not require treatment.
The man will stay in police custody after being refused bail and will appear in the Batemans Bay Court on March 28,
He was charged with:
- Eight counts of larceny
- Two counts of entering a premises without an excuse
- Three counts of car theft
- Two counts of not properly wearing a motorbike helmet
- Two counts of driving while suspended
- Driving a vehicle with the wrong licence class
- Driving on a path
- Enter dwelling with intent (steal);
- Stealing breaking out of a dwelling
- Two counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception, and;
- Resisting officer in execution of duty
