Massage monster Mark Horsfall convicted of multiple rapes on south coast

A jury took five hours to convict massage monster Mark Anthony Horsfall of raping two women on the south coast in 2021.

The unanimous decision came after a four-day trial in Wollongong District Court.

The 61-year-old pleaded not guilty to three counts of sexual assault, one being aggravated due to one of the victims having a disability, as well as a further charge of sexual touching.

The jury of seven women and five men found him guilty of all four charges with the conclusion of the trial also permitting the publishing of the full extent of Horsfall’s crimes.

The predator pleaded guilty to eight other charges on the eve of the trial including six counts of sexual touching and two counts of sexual assault.

The trial heard gruesome details of how Horsfall exploited a friendship of a woman with a degenerative disease at her mother‘s home on January 6, 2021.

Horsfall went to the home near Nowra under the guise of giving the woman a massage, however, she told the court he digitally penetrated her just metres from her mother.

The victim “jolted” before blurting out “don’t” with Horsfall then licking his finger and saying “that’s yummy”.

Throughout the trial, Horsfall claimed nothing untoward occurred during the massage.

The second victim was expecting to receive a massage from the pervert at his mother’s house in Culburra Beach on the evening of March 9, 2021.

She took her son with her who watched a movie in the adjoining room to Horsfall’s makeshift massage parlour where he proceeded to rape her.

Horsfall told the woman she had a “yummy” backside before spreading her legs and commenting “she‘s winking at me”, in reference to her vagina.

The court heard Horsfall then proceeded to penetrate her vagina with two fingers.

The victim held back tears as she told the court how Horsfall made her feel “terrible” and she did not resist because she wanted to “get it over and done with”.

Horsfall then performed oral sex on her before she left with her son.

The woman said she “stood in the shower for ages” and cried because she felt “so dirty”.

Horsfall said during his evidence the pair did engage in sex, however, he indicated it was consensual.

The jury also heard about Horsfall’s admissions relating to the other eight charges.

Those offences involved five other women who were sexually violated by Horsfall at the Body Resort Chinese Massage in Gerringong between November, 2020, and March, 2021.

The court heard a victim in her 40s was left in a state of shock after Horsfall kissed her on the neck and whispered “yummy” in her ear.

Horsfall digitally penetrated the woman on two occasions and sucked one of her nipples.

“Are you feeling relaxed now”, he said before she left and went to Wollongong Hospital to undergo a rape test.

The court heard Horsfall rubbed the clitoris of one of the women and stuck his tongue down the throat of another.

He also admitted to making a range of crass comments including “you have a yummy bottom”.

Horsfall’s bail was revoked after the jury was dismissed, and he was taken into custody.

The offender appeared via video link in Wollongong District Court on Thursday where his sentence date was listed for May 5.

Victim impact statements are expected to be heard on this date, however, the venue is still to be determined.
