A man has admitted to drug supply after being arrested following an investigation into a cocaine syndicate on the state’s south coast, which saw a ‘Bluey’ toy believed to be stuffed with cocaine seized.

Fraser Unterweger, 24, from Batemans Bay, appeared in the Local Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to drug possession and drug supply.

Unterweger also pleaded guilty to the unrelated matter of driving with loss of traction.

The 24-year-old pleaded not guilty to possession of a prohibited firearm, participating in a criminal group and contributing to criminal activity.

Unterweger was one of four men arrested last year following an investigation into the supply of drugs along the NSW south coast.

Police launched simultaneous raids across the Batemans Bay area on September 28, 2022, with ACT Police conducting two more searches at Braddon and Mitchell.

In a statement at the time of the arrest, a NSW Police spokesman said officers had seized a soft ‘Bluey’ toy from the hit Australian children’s television program which was believed to be stuffed with cocaine.

Officers also seized seven firearms, gel blasters, a replica handgun, ammunition, gunpowder, two poker machines, and about one kilogram of tobacco.

A cocktail of drugs, including cannabis, steroids, and a crystallised substance believed to be MDMA, were also allegedly seized, along with $1600 in cash, a hydraulic pill press, and a prohibited laser pointer.

Unterweger’s sentencing was supposed to take place on Monday, however his solicitor, Kel Clowry, told the court it should be adjourned to allow for a sentencing assessment report.

Magistrate David O’Connor did not oppose the recommendation, however he made it clear convictions would be involved in the final outcome.

“Convictions will be recorded on the charges where you have pleaded guilty,” Mr O’Connor said.

Unterweger will return to Batemans Bay Local Court on June 26 for sentencing.
