Fatal head-on collision on Princes Highway, Conjola

An elderly man is dead and a young woman in a critical condition after an horrific head-on crash on the state’s South Coast.

One man is dead and a young woman is listed in a critical but stable condition after a two-vehicle crash on the state’s South Coast on Wednesday.

A Nissan Pulsar and a Toyota Corolla collided head-on on the Princes Highway, south of Fishermans Paradise Rd in Conjola, at about 7pm.

Emergency services treated the 83-year-old Nissan driver, however he died at the scene.

A 22-year-old woman who had been driving the Corolla was treated and flown to St George Hospital.

A crime scene was established and forensically examined.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has begun and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
