A south coast lawyer has denied she contacted police falsely claiming her partner was planning to commit suicide.
Esther Colson, of David Griffiths Lawyers, who has defended convicted paedophile Maurice Van Ryn, has pleaded not guilty to making a false statement to police resulting in an investigation and resisting or hindering a police officer in the execution of duty.
She was arrested in November last year after allegedly contacting police at 9pm on October 24 from a home in Berrambool, claiming her partner was going to harm himself.
Police also allege Ms Colson hindered a Senior Constable’s investigation into the incident.
Bega Local Court Magistrate Doug Dick told the court on February 23 a relieving magistrate may be required for Ms Colson’s hearing later this year.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Liza Brown told the court she would be giving evidence as a material witness in the case.
Two ambulance officers will also give evidence, the court heard.
Magistrate Dick relisted the hearing for May 18 at Bega Local Court.
