A senior constable who allegedly assaulted two teenagers in a NSW south coast town is set to enter pleas more than a year on from the alleged incident.
NSW Police senior constable Brett Lindsay was charged in September, after it was alleged the southern region police officer assaulted two 17-year-olds.
The 37-year-old man was charged with two counts of common assault.
Lindsay did not appear in person in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, due to being legally represented by Adam Sumbak who told Magistrate Doug Dick that pleas would be entered at the next occasion.
Police allege Lindsay assaulted the two 17-year-olds during an altercation in the Batemans Bay region on October 31, 2023.
The two teens were arrested before being later released.
A NSW Police spokesman said neither of the teens were charged.
Mr Sumbak told the court he needed time to research the case, as he was only assigned to be the senior constable’s lawyer just days before the first mention.
Mr Dick – nor the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) representative – opposed with the case adjourned for two weeks.
Lindsay is required to return to court in person on October 28 to enter pleas to his charges.
He remains on bail, suspended without pay.
