A customer shopping at a South Coast IGA supermarket was allegedly punched and threatened by a man after stepping in and intervening during an attempted robbery on Wednesday.
NSW Police were told the man entered the IGA liquor store on Meroo St in Bomaderry about 1.45pm on Wednesday, where he allegedly threatened an employee and demanded they hand over cash.
When the employee refused, the man allegedly punched the register and left the store empty-handed.
Police allege that shortly after, the man entered the nearby IGA supermarket section, attached to the liquor store, where he also demanded cash.
A customer who attempted to intervene was allegedly punched in the face and threatened by the man.
Officers from South Coast Police District were notified shortly after and arrested a 23-year-old man at the scene.
He was taken to Nowra Police Station where he allegedly continued to be aggressive towards police and spat at a Corrective Services NSW officer.
The Bomaderry man has since been charged with stalk or intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical harm, two counts of demanding property with menaces and intent to steal, and two counts of common assault.
He was refused bail to appear in Nowra Local Court on November 15.
