A man who allegedly got his hands on someone’s credit card and then spent the next week purchasing various items across the NSW south coast, has denied the allegations in court.

A man facing 31 charges after allegedly using a stolen debit card on the NSW south coast to buy items from online gift cards to a knife, has denied to allegations in court.

Sutton man Adam Boardman, 38, pleaded not guilty to 31 counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, after police allege he used a stolen IMB card to purchase various items between February 24 and March 1 last year.

Documents tendered to the court did not reveal how Boardman allegedly got his hands on the card, however police will allege the 38-year-old man started his week-long spending spree at Bakers Delight, Batemans Bay, buying various baked goods on February 24.

The next day, Boardman allegedly visited stores around Batemans Bay purchasing various items from the Express Service Station, a knife and cigarettes from Cignall, items from the Caltex Service Station, prepaid mobile service recharge at Telstra, various surf items from Saltwater Dream, two Wish gift cards online and Uber Eats.

Boardman allegedly continued his spending spree the next day, with police accusing him of purchasing three more Wish gift cards online, three lots of Wondershare software, as well as cigarettes, orange juice and a pie at the EG Group Service Station and three Neosurf gift vouchers.

Two days later, the documents state that Boardman continued to allegedly abuse the card, purchasing four lots of groceries at the Batemans Bay Woolworths as well as alcohol and cigarettes from the Bay View Hotel.

On March 1, Boardman allegedly purchased three lots of items from Bush Surf in Batemans Bay, as well as one final Wish gift card.

Police attached to the South Coast Police District began investigating allegations of fraud after the owner of the card reported it missing.

Following months of investigations, Boardman was charged with the 31 offences late last year.

In court on Monday, Boardman’s lawyer Lisa Stone entered pleas on her client’s behalf, before asking for a lengthy adjournment – a request not opposed by Magistrate Doug Dick given the number of charges.

“We are going to need 31 witness statements,” he said.

The prosecution confirmed many of the shops Boardman is accused of using the stolen card in would be able to provide CCTV footage.

Boardman will return to Batemans Bay Local Court on July 22, where his pleas will be confirmed.
