A man accused of breaking into a hotel room, before throwing a piece of glass at another man, puncturing his lung, has been refused bail at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Tuesday.
Police allege Zachary Williams, 31, smashed through the window of a hotel room at the Spinning Wheel Hotel on Port Stephens Rd at Raymond Terrace at around 9.20pm on Sunday, where a 48-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were staying.
Police allege Williams then threw a piece of glass at the man which hit him straight in the chest, before leaving.
The 48-year-old was taken to John Hunter Hospital with a suspected punctured lung. A crime scene was established at the hotel room.
Following a short investigation, police found Williams at around 8.30pm the next day. He was hiding in the boot of a car at Raymond Terrace.
After a short struggle, he was arrested and charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit a serious indictable offence, and resist arrest.
His matter has been adjourned until May.
