Zac Williams allegedly broke into Raymond Terrace hotel, threw glass, hitting man in chest

A man has suffered a suspected punctured lung after police allege another man smashed through the window of his Raymond Terrace hotel room and threw glass into his chest before leaving.

A man accused of breaking into a hotel room, before throwing a piece of glass at another man, puncturing his lung, has been refused bail at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Tuesday.

Police allege Zachary Williams, 31, smashed through the window of a hotel room at the Spinning Wheel Hotel on Port Stephens Rd at Raymond Terrace at around 9.20pm on Sunday, where a 48-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were staying.

Police allege Williams then threw a piece of glass at the man which hit him straight in the chest, before leaving.

The 48-year-old was taken to John Hunter Hospital with a suspected punctured lung. A crime scene was established at the hotel room.

Following a short investigation, police found Williams at around 8.30pm the next day. He was hiding in the boot of a car at Raymond Terrace.

After a short struggle, he was arrested and charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit a serious indictable offence, and resist arrest.

His matter has been adjourned until May.
