A 32-year-old woman has been charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon after it’s alleged she drove the getaway vehicle in an armed robbery at Waratah.

Police have charged a second person over an armed robbery at a Newcastle pub in April.
A 32-year-old woman has been charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon after it’s alleged she drove the getaway vehicle.
On the Thursday morning of April 18, a man armed with a firearm stormed the Royal Inn at Waratah on Station street and allegedly threatened patrons before fleeing with cash.
Following inquiries, the State Crime Command’s robbery and serious crime squad took over the investigation under Strike Force Yard and as a result, a 32-year-old man was arrested and charged a short time later. He remains before the courts.
Another breakthrough led police to arrest a 32-year-old woman just before 9am on Tuesday at Silverwater Correctional Complex, where she was being held on an unrelated charge.
The woman will appear at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday.
