A young woman has been charged with the stabbing murder of Medowie man Jason Adams at Raymond Terrace on the weekend.
The Taree woman, 21, was arrested at a North Haven motel about 12.30am on Monday following a two-day search for her.
She was arrested on an outstanding warrant before Port Stephens detectives travelled to Port Macquarie where she was interviewed.
Detectives formally charged the woman about 8.45pm. Mr Adams, 27, died from a stab wound to the side of his torso, the weapon striking a vital organ and causing Mr Adams to bleed to death.
Police will allege he was attacked on Payton St before stumbling about 30 metres and collapsing on the road at the intersection of Payton and Watt streets.
Mr Adams had been living at a nearby house after being recently released on bail to reside at the premises.
He had been remanded in custody on traffic charges and other relatively minor counts before being granted bail.
The woman and Mr Adams were never in a domestic relationship but were known to each other.
A strike force was set up following Mr Adams’ death on Saturday before mid-north coast officers took the suspect into custody on the warrant at a motel south of Port Macquarie.
Police will allege the woman was the person who inflicted the blow on Mr
Adams.
She has been refused bail to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court on Tuesday.
Investigations are continuing and further arrests are expected.
