Dog Rescue Newcastle has rescued more than 8500 animals in 10 and a half years by rehoming them to loving families.

Rescuing dogs mainly from death row in pounds, Dog Rescue Newcastle is giving furry friends a second chance as volunteers become foster carers until they find their forever home.

There are many heart warming stories and this week it is about a Kelpie named Eddie.

In early September 2018 a one-year-old Kelpie came into foster care after spending his whole life on a chain.

He met a dog Ruby and was so excited to have someone to play with, and every moment for Eddie was an adventure.

Even though he was one, Eddie had never experienced anything at all and so took absolute joy in new sounds, things to do and see, and of course food.

After twelve months on a chain, he had a few issues, but his family on the NSW South Coast spent time training him, walking him and giving him affection, which has turned him into a wonderful dog and important family member.

Eddie now lives on large acreage and has lots of walks through the bush and holidays at the beach.

He loves everyone and everything and brings great joy to his new family.
