Man, 43, charged alleged threats to shoot up a mosque on social media
A man has been arrested after an investigation by counter-terrorism police uncovered alleged threats by him to shoot up a mosque and other anti-islamic comments.

A man has been arrested after an investigation by counter-terrorism police uncovered alleged threats by him to shoot up a mosque and other anti-islamic comments.
Heavily armed police from the tactical Operations Unit swooped on Cormac Patrick Rothsey late yesterday afternoon at Hamilton, a suburb of Newcastle.
A phone and backpack were seized and are now being examined by forensic police.
He was taken to Newcastle Police station where he was interviewed by detectives from the NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team after police located a number of concerning posts on social media earlier this week.
It’s believed the man was homeless, although his address was listed in court papers as Ingleburn.
Investigators have found no evidence the man had the ability to carry the alleged threats out.
He’s been charged with use carriage service to menace, harass, offend and has been refused bail at Newcastle Local Court on Friday.
