Newcastle Civic Park held an invite only Remembrance Day ceremony

There wasn’t the hundreds of people celebrating an important day, with just a few paying tribute at Newcastle’s Civic park for Remembrance Day on Wednesday. SEE ALL THE PHOTOS.

It was a very different look for Remembrance Day in Newcastle’s Civic Park on Wednesday, with just a few invited guest paying their respects to those who had fallen.

Organised by the Newcastle Sub Branch RSL, it was the same service with just a bit of “tweaking” due to COVID-19 restrictions, with the prayer, wreath laying and bugler playing the last post all featuring.

It was an emotional day for 95-year-old Fred Whitaker who served in World War II.

His father also served in World War I and II.
