For the first time the Newcastle News can reveal which suburbs have been the hardest hit by the coronavirus and how your neighbourhood has been impacted.
As COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the Hunter, many are wondering whether their suburb may be a hotspot for the virus.
NSW Health has broken down confirmed cases into postcodes across the state.
The Newcastle News has done the leg work so you can see whether your suburb is high on the coronavirus list. (stats obtained Thursday 2/04/20 – subject to change)
NEWCASTLE
There were 48 recorded cases of coronavirus in the Newcastle Local Government Area.
The highest number of cases, 16, were in the 2287 postcode which covers Wallsend, Fletcher, Maryland, Birmingham Gardens, Elermore Vale, Minmi and Ranking Park.
Next on the list was postcode 2305 with 7 COVID-19 cases which includes Kotara East, New Lambton and New Lambton Heights.
But the safest postcodes with zero cases reported were 2293 (Maryville, Wickham), 2294 (Carrington), 2295 (Fern Bay, Stockton), 2296 (Islington), 2302 (Newcastle West), 2307 (Shortland) and 2308 (Callaghan, Newcastle University).

LAKE MACQUARIE
The Lake Macquarie Local Government Area has recorded 42 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far.
The highest number of cases, 10, are in the 2283 postcode covering the suburbs of Rathmines, Toronto and up to Fassifern. It is followed by 2280 with seven cases in areas around Marks Point, Belmont, Redhead Beach and Valentine.
Next in line is 2290 covering Gateshead, Dudley, Charlestown, Bennetts Green, Redhead, Mount Hutton, Kahibah, Hillsborough, Tingira Heights, Whitebridge with 6 cases, including three diagnosed on March 23, while both the 2264 and 2281 postcodes have four cases.

PORT STEPHENS
31 cases have been confirmed in the Port Stephens Local Government Area.
11 was the highest number recorded in the postcode 2315 which covers Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay, Fingal Bay and Corlette, while the next biggest hotspot was in 2316 with 7, including One Mile, Taylor’s Beach, Anna Bay, Boat Harbour, Bobs Farm, Fishermans Bay.

A big postcode of 2320 which has the suburbs of most Maitland areas, Aberglasslyn, Largs, Lorn, Horseshoe Bend, Glen Oak, Farley, Hillsborough, Keinbah, Gosforth, Anambah, Allandale, Bolwarra Heights, Bolwarra, Windella, Mount Dee, Louth Park, Oakhampton has a total of 8 cases.

2321 – 6 (Butterwick, Clarence Town, Berry Park, Duns Creek, Gillieston Heights, Cliftleight, Duckenfield, Harpers Hill, Heddon Greta, Glen Martin, Glen William, Luskintyre, Morpeth, Lochinvar, Hinton, Phoenix Park, Oswald, Windermere, Raworth, Woodville)

A majority of those are in 2325 with 20 confirmed cases. Those cover the suburbs of Abernethy, Bellbird, Aberdare, Dairy Arm, Ellalong, Congewai, Corrabare, Cessnock, Cessnock West, Bellbird Heights, Cedar Creek, Watagan, Wollombi, Yengo National Park, Paynes Crossing, Pelton, Quorrobolong, Sweetmans Creek, Laguna, Kitchener)
OTHER
2327 – 3 (Kurri Kurri, Pelaw Main, Stanford Merthyr)
UPPER HUNTER
The virus threat has not made much headway up the Hunter Valley, according to the data.
The 2330 postcode of Singleton had 3 cases, Branxton, 2335, just the 1, along with Muswellbrook (2333), 1 also.
Lucky Denman (2328) and Greta (2334) residents have no cases.
