Many of us are just itching to get out and get stuck into our favourite grub at our favourite pub.
Tomorrow that will finally be possible, with the NSW government easing COVID-19 restrictions allowing a maximum of 10 people to enjoy dining and table drinks service at venues across the state.
But not every pub and club across the Hunter is taking up the offer, with some saying having just 10 customers at a time isn’t viable and they’d prefer not to take the gamble, while others are relishing the chance to get bums back on seats.
“As an industry we welcome this small but significant step taken by the NSW Government toward re-activating venues across NSW,” Australian Hotels Association Newcastle Hunter President Rolly De With said.
“While a maximum of 10 people may not be financially viable for all our pubs and hotels, it is a positive step toward allowing venues to prepare for future trade.
“Allowing pubs to cater for limited in-venue dining will particularly assist small country towns where perhaps there is no café or restaurant and the local community relies on its pub as a place to dine.
“I know many of our pubs will be looking forward to welcoming their first patrons back tomorrow, and we look forward to the next stage of trade when our venues can once again open their doors to the wider community.”
