Police are investigating links between two violent armed robberies where bandits have targeted quiet service stations armed with a sword and baseball bat.
The latest hold-up occurred about 3.30am on Tuesday, when two men stormed the Metro service station on Lavis Lane at Williamtown.
A male service station attendant and a male customer were threatened during the raid before the bandits escaped with cash from a register.
It follows the armed robbery of a Metro service station on Maitland Rd at Sandgate on Friday.
Two men, also armed with a samurai sword and baseball bat, entered the shop about 1.45am and threatened a 24-year-old employee while demanding money.
The men stole cash before fleeing on foot towards Mangrove Rd.
