Former foster carer charged over the alleged indecent assault of a girl, 9, in Newcastle region

Following an investigation, detectives arrested a 42-year-old man on the Central Coast last month over allegations he indecently assaulted a young girl on several occasions in 2017.

A former foster carer has been charged over the alleged indecent assault of a nine-year-old girl in the Newcastle region.

Last month detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a young girl had been indecently assaulted by a man while she was in his care.

Police allege the man indecently assaulted the girl – then aged nine – on several occasions in 2017.

A former foster carer will front Newcastle Local Court over indecent assault charges of a young child.

Detectives arrested a 42-year-old man at a home on the Central Coast on February 19 before he was charged with four counts of aggravated indecent assault – victim under authority of offender and commit act of indecency with persons under 16 years.

He was refused bail at Wyong Local Court to reappear at Newcastle Local Court today (Wednesday).
