David Bailey: Wollombi crash victim remembered by family and friends as ‘beautiful soul’
A devoted Newcastle father has been remembered as a “all round good guy” with a larger-than-life personality after he was tragically killed while out riding his motorbike near Cessnock on the weekend.

Family and friends have made a loving tribute to a “devoted father” and “beautiful soul”.
David James Bailey was known as an “all-round good guy”, a loving husband, a devoted father to his two daughters and “someone you could always count on in a crisis”.
The 52-year-old from Newcastle was tragically killed when his motorbike collided with a KIA sedan on Great North Rd, Wollombi, near Cessnock on Saturday morning.
Paramedics desperately tried to save him, but he died at the scene.
Devastated big sister Rona Bell said her brother ‘Dave’ had a larger than life personality, with a heart as soft as marshmallow.
“He could be your tower of strength when you needed,” she said.
“He was just like his dad, “Mr Fixit”, tools ready for whatever needed to be repaired or modified.
“RIP little brother.”
A friend described him as a true genuine and honest family man and friend, saying his death was a huge loss to the world.
“Gonna really miss my mate. He was a great friend & beautiful soul,” Casper Cas expressed on social media.
“He really was a special soul, and I know his family and us friends will really struggle through today.”
Another friend posted: “Rest In Peace Mate, we’ll ride again on the other side”.
Hunter Valley Police are investigating the cause of the crash on the weekend.
The driver of the vehicle, a 74-year-old man, was taken to Cessnock Hospital for mandatory blood and alcohol testing.
