A man has been charged with the stabbing death of his ex-partner in Newcastle.

Parolee Tyrone Thompson has been charged with the stabbing murder of his ex-partner Mackenzie Anderson.
Thompson, 22, was arrested outside the young mother’s Mayfield home after police were called to reports of a stabbing on Friday night.
Ms Anderson made a triple-0 call about 10.40pm to report a man had broken into her Crebert St unit.
The 21-year-old was found on a landing outside the unit with over a dozen stab wounds and died at the scene.
Thompson was arrested nearby, taken to John Hunter Hospital with a hand wound and held under police guard.
Newcastle City detectives formally charged him on Sunday afternoon with murder, enter with intent and breaching an apprehended domestic violence order.
He is due to face a bedside bail hearing on Monday.
Thompson was on parole at the time of his arrest after being released from custody on March 9 for domestic violence-related offences against Ms Anderson.
He had served four months and two weeks of a nine month sentence.
