Raptor Squad arrest ‘suspected’ Hells Angel associate over alleged bashing at The Prince at Merewether
Specialist anti-bikie police have taken a “suspected Hells Angel associate” into custody over the alleged unprovoked bashing of two men at a popular inner-suburban Newcastle pub.

The anti-bikie Raptor Squad have charged a “suspected associate” of the Hells Angels with multiple assault offences after he allegedly coward punched a man and injured a second patron at a popular inner-suburban Newcastle pub.
Police were called to The Prince at Merewether Hotel on Morgan St, about 11pm on September 14 following reports that “multiple” men had been assaulted.
“Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District arrived and were told an unknown man had punched two men – aged 19 and 20 – in their heads before fleeing the scene,” police said in a statement.
“Both men received injuries to their mouths and face, however they both refused treatment.”
Police will allege one man was punched in the back of the head before cracking his teeth on the ground while a second suffered significant facial bruising.
They will allege both assaults were unprovoked.
Raptor Squad officers took over the investigation before raiding a Merewether home about 6am on Wednesday where they allegedly seized “personal items allegedly used in the offence and electronic items.
A man, 47, who police said was a “suspected associate of the Hells Angels, was arrested and taken to Newcastle police station where he was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on October 31.
