A teen has been accused of threatening to stab a stranger on a bustling Newcastle street late at night before she allegedly made a dash with a stolen handbag in tow.
At about 1am on Saturday, police were called to a carpark on Steel St with reports two women - both aged 21 - had allegedly been the victims of a robbery.
Police will allege the pair were walking past a group of people when a woman suddenly approached them and demanded they hand over cash.
It’s further alleged the woman then threatened to stab one of the women before fleeing with her handbag.
Newcastle detectives commenced inquiries into the alleged incident before a 19-year-old woman was arrested at Newcastle Police Station on Monday afternoon.
She was charged with aggravated robbery and refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday.
