A young motorcyclist is dead after his machine and another vehicle collided at Medowie on Monday.
Emergency services were called to Abundance Rd after 11.30am following reports a motorcycle and motor vehicle had been involved in the collision.
“On arrival, officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District found the rider with life-threatening injuries,” police said in a statement.
“Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, he died at the scene.
“He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a man aged in his 20s.”
The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured and was taken to the John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police established a crime scene which is being forensically examined.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
