Mayfield West: Sarsha Lee Black, 41, charged after $79k in cash and drugs allegedly seized from car
A woman has been granted conditional bail after police allegedly seized tens of thousands of dollars in cash, over an ounce of meth, LSD tablets and other items during a vehicle stop in suburban Newcastle.

A woman has been banned from visiting a Newcastle suburb after being granted conditional bail on a string of charges stemming from the alleged seizure of nearly $80,000 in cash and drugs from a car.
Sarsha Lee Black, 41, was stopped as she drove her Volkswagen Golf along Gregson Ave at Mayfield West on Monday afternoon.
Police said in a statement that officers had been patrolling nearby Bull St about 3.30pm when they saw the Volkswagen.
A search of Black’s car allegedly found $79,790, 29g of methamphetamine, 18 LSD tablets, buprenorphine tablets and a strip, 13 tablets which will undergo further testing, scales, mobile phones, and other items of interest.
Black was taken to Waratah police station where she was charged with four counts of possessing a prohibited drug and one count each of supplying a prohibited drug (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity), recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime, and goods suspected stolen in/on premises.
She faced Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday where she successfully made a release application in front of magistrate Janine Lacy.
Ms Lacy granted bail on a series of conditions, including that Black report daily to Toronto police station and she not enter Mayfield.
She must also abstain from consuming alcohol and drugs.
Her case will return to court on February 6.
